Spring? break 2011

Snow was beautiful but.....

Only part of the path we had to go down to get to our condo...

James' jeep this morning...

Trying to get boots on before skiing....

Jeep has completed it's slogan...

Our vacation started off with a trip to Sacramento last Saturday. We headed to Heather's house for her son Derek's 3rd birthday. It was wonderful to see all of the family and the kids. Everyone looked great. Our plans were to stay at Tom and Lynn's to head to our condo in the snow on Sunday. Storms were too bad and the roads were closed so we headed home. We left everything packed in hopes to head up Monday. We were able to arrive Monday afternoon to our condo at Tahoe Donner. This condo had a unique entrance. All we saw was a sign with the number and an arrow pointing straight down. There were no stairs (covered with snow) and we ambled down the path with some difficulties getting all of our stuff inside. Tuesday's weather was perfect and the guys skiied all day at Sugarbowl. Wednesday the weather was starting to turn again and they only made it half day at Tahoe Donner. We had hopes of being able to get out Thursday morning. It was difficult to get out of the condo up the path. I barely was able to get myself out let alone help with all the stuff. I was up to my waist in snow. We tried getting home but the roads closed. 80 and 50 were both having issues with avalanches. We found a room at the Truckee Donner Lodge (along with a bunch of other people) and stayed overnight. We got up very early this morning but 80 was still closed. 50 was open so we headed around Lake Tahoe. A slow but beautiful drive. Although we decided the jeep was hard to travel with a family of four we were so grateful we had it on this trip. I loved being able to text my family. They are the best in the world. We definitely saw some snow!

  1. There is a trip you will always remember!! I was supposed to spend all last week in Reno for work. I was able to find something else to do :)
You can do like I do - Blame Al Gore for all this pesky global warming and arid weather.
