Heart of a champion

"TEAMMATES" JAMES & EZ

Last night the boys played Rancho Cotati. Huge school, beautiful field, fancy band, the whole bit. We lost 49-0. It was such a sad game for many reasons. They had much bigger players. The boys went through all the ice packs they had. Never happens. We had to sit and watch as we had at least 10 turnovers so no chance for a score. They managed to score on the turnovers which hurt us. The paper didn't even mention the game today, it was that bad.
I just wanted to say how proud I am of my son and a few others on the team. They NEVER gave up. James played his heart out and never lost his consistency. He was on defense almost the entire game and managed to run down the field several times on his poor knee. He most likely broke his hand (will have to tape it and deal with it) and has so many bruises today he is focusing on what doesn't hurt at the moment. He played like a warrior and cheered like a warrior. More than half the team gave up as did the fans. Those that stayed and cheered to the end learned what was more important than winning. Sticking by your teammates and cheering them on no matter what.

  1. It's easy to back a winner. It takes heart to stay together as a team when things aren't going your way. You can hold your head high and say we gave it our all - I KNOW you did!
Whether it was Football or Swimming, I loved being a Trojan!! Winning can be a special icing, but being on the team is the real cake. Wins and Losses are real life. You relish the wins and try to learn from the losses. In the end, you grow.
