A hard but expected loss

Nathan was visiting from Reno and was able to watch John's game

Well John's Tomales team lost in the championship game Sunday. It was a hard and frustrating game to watch. The top players on the St. Eugene's team towered over the boys. They were able to stand under the basket and continue to shoot until they either made a basket or we fouled them and they made their freethrows. By the beginning of the second half because of the 30 pt mercy rule in CYO it became a giant game of keep away. Our coach made the right decision to concede the game. The scoreboard was turned off and the boys then were just able to play and the pressure was off. Although I believe they were completely intimidated by their size, they did make some great plays to finish the game with their heads held high. John was triple teamed at times and was still able to dribble down and make good passes without losing possession. He was the ultimate team player making sure he passed to everyone on the team so they could get a chance to make one more basket for the season. I am very proud of our boys. They made history by being pulled from Division 3 last year to Division 1 this year and winning the most games and making it to the championship. That is a victory in itself.
